Contrast is important and a lot of websites are beginning to understand that simple is better. Black/Grey on white works all the time.

The main difficulty I have with reading content online is the lack of contrast on so many sites. Sitting in a brightly lit cafe, with brightness turned down a bit to conserve battery, this trend to gray-on-gray type is hard to read.

No, printed text is easier to read as serif fonts, it increases legibility as letters are easier to distinguish because of the serifs.

I agree with Jane. I skipped reading the article because the font made the article too dense to read.

I’d go for a lighter-weight font and perhaps slightly wider lines.
