Apple doesn’t block ads, they just offered a feature that allowed others to write programs to block content. Content can be ads but could be video like don’t run video when on mobile data connection for instance.

Of course, I agree that a loyal user base brings in more revenue and is otherwise more valuable to any publisher too.

However, I stand by my assumption that using ad blocking is in essence stealing, or at the very least a breach of trust. You’re cutting off someone’s primary source of earning… what incentive to they then have to keep investing their time and money and keep creating content?

I could tell you a hundred things but your piece is based on a wrong assumption. A user who read your content without watching your ads is not a theif because you PUT the website on a “world wide web”. When someone reads a book without purchasing then its stealing, the whole point of a public website to offer content for free or you could easily put a agreement page that if someone wants to read the content he/she must watch certain minutes of ads.

And before you evoke the bloggers and publisher’s right to earn, let me tell you I am also a publisher and I know from my experience that a loyal user base brings more revenue.

Thank you. I need to think about how to handle this on my little site as I’m growing!
