I would be very interested in learning your views on using Google’s Responsive Ad Code for sites that are constructed to be responsive to the width of the device these are viewed on. It appears that publishers don’t have much say in the size or the orientation of the ads that will be delivered. Of course one could constrain the width available to somewhat control the orientation of the delivered ad, but even so, there is no way to control the dimensions. Sometimes this ends up looking quite awkward on mobile devices, with large tracts of visible area swallowed up by Google ads. What looks relatively unobtrusive on the desktop, can look embarrassingly in-your-face on the cell phone screen…
